 Wood Door Specialties was established in the fall of 1989, an incorporated January of 1990 by Linda Korte.  With five years experience in the modification and prehanging of doors for a distributor, Linda noticed a need for a wholesale door shop that could machine doors at a high quality for all the existing door and hardware distributors.  Wood Door Specialties for the first 18 months of business would receive doors from distributors, and in a 24 hour turn- around would return the doors, modified to the distributors specification.  This was the start of a service and quality level that WDS continues to enjoy today.

After the success of the machining for distributors, Linda was asked, "Why not stock doors?".  WDS received their first inventory of architectural wood doors from the Buell Door Company March 3, 1991 and then expanded into commercial wood doors in June of 1991.  The success and growth of WDS continued.

In January of 1994, WDS made a major move from a wholesale door and machining company to a full line distributor with the addition of Hollow Metal Doors, Frames, Commercial and Architectural hardware.

Today, Wood Door Specialties has established itself as a major distributor with the best quality lines that are available today.  WDS doesn't want to be the biggest, they want to be the distributor that the architects and contractors can count on to get the job done.  WDS has not forgotten the reason they have succeeded and will continue to give each of its customers quality and  service.
